Our Tour De Zanskar starts in earnest. We have 150 kms to travel and some great landscape to capture. We start off early in the morning, as we ride through the Atal Tunnel, to Sissu, our first halt. A noticeable change in Landscape welcomes you to Lahaul And Spiti Valley . We ride through the wonderful roads of Keylong and Jispa and onto Darcha, where we leave the Manali -Leh highway and take the newly constructed Darcha- Padum Highway.

Riding through some breath taking landscape, our next halt is Shinku-la Pass, at an altitude of 16,700 feet. The road leading upto shinkula pass is mostly tarmac and the ride is comfortable. As we begin to descend the pass, tarmac gives way to gravel and the next 30 kms to our destination, Gonbo Ronjon is on gravel roads. we camp for the night in a beautiful little pasture at the feet of the Mighty Gonbo Ronjon mountain.

Zanskar Valley Motorcycle tour is all about creating memories. Beautiful landscape and rugged roads. In a nutshell this day will symbolise what Tour de Zanskar by BRM Expeditions is. You wake up from a comfortable nights sleep in a camp by a small stream of water flowing by and look out to see the sun rays measuring the might of Gonbo Ronjon and we promise it would be one of the best morning of your life. Take some time for photography around the peak as our team prepares fresh breakfast for you.

After breakfast we begin the ride to Purney, a short one compared to the previous day but Purney is an important halt as we get set to explore the Zanskar valley. The ride is mostly through gravel road and takes 2-3 hrs. we reach Purney around Lunch, set up camps and prepare the lunch while you can go skinny dipping in some of the bluest waters in Himalayas. Evening at campsite,  share some drinks, music and stories.

Another Early morning awaits but this time we don’t saddle up for bike ride. A hike is on the agenda as we trek to the Phutkal Gompa, one of the oldest in Indian Himalayas and the only one still accessible only by foot. The hike through barren mountain and along a clear blue stream makes the experience all the more unique.  Hot meal welcomes our famished bodies as we return to campsite. After resting for a bit, its time to get back on the bikes and ride on to Padum, the main town of Zanskar Valley. We reach Padum in evening and check in to a nice cosy hotel.

This day is scheduled to give you a break from daily riding and allowing you some time to familiarize yourself with the local way of life. You can explore the gompa, chat with Monks, shop for souvenirs and explore the local market. There are some trails around Padum that you can ride to as well, in case you want to explore on wheels.

we resume the riding with Kargil being our destination for Day 6. The 240 km ride is mostly on good roads and takes us through some natural wonders along the Zanskar- Kargil road. We witness Drang Drung Glacier, the biggest in Asia and also get to ride past the NUN Kun mountains, the highest peaks in Ladakh region. Another intersting halt on the road is for thr Random Monastery, a fine example of preservation of Buddhist culture. As we reach Panikhar, you can sense coming back to civilisation as small villages, schools and shops begin to cross by regularly. Evening in Kargil in a comfortable hotel.

The best riding conditions welcome us as we set out for a 230 km ride from Kargil to Leh. The wide, metalled roads and lovely landscape is our constant companion on this stretch of the journey. Our first halt is Lamayuru, also known as the moorland because of its otherworldly landscape. The Monastery at Lamayuru is a must visit place and offers  calm and a spiritual experience.

The other places of interest on the road from Kargil to Leh include Sangam, the confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers, Magnetic Hill, where vehicles defy gravity and Gurudwara Sri Pathar Sahib, a holy shrine for Sikhs. We take our time, enjoy the sights and sites and reach our nice hotel by evening.

This day in Leh is reserved for you to explore the local market, hunt for souvenirs or take some well deserved rest in your hotel rooms. We also have short ride to Shanti Stupa and the Leh Palace on schedule for you as we make preperations for you to visit the Khardungla pass.

Our last riding day of the tour and we pick up bikes from Local vendor and ride to the erstwhile highest motorable pass in the world, KHARDUNGLA. This is the last spot we cover on this tour and also it’s the most famous Landmark for tourists visiting Ladakh.   The dinner at hotel brings our tour to an official end.
