South Indian Odyssey Motorcycle Tour by BRM EXPEDITIONS

Where we ride

Upon Arrival in the Chennai Airport, you would be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and following a Meet and Greet with the crew and other participants of the tour we Allocate you the bikes. A ride to the Marina beach and Kapaleshwar temple are on the agenda for the evening after a tour brief from our team. Overnight in Chennai.

We head to Mahabalipuram, A UNESCO world heritage site renowned for its historic and artistic treasures. There are over 20 places of Interest in Mahabalipuram, all at short distances from each other so we need some time to explore. Arjunas Penance, which is one of the largest open air rock relief in the world , shore temple , Varha Caves all give a glimpse into the history of India and are marvellous exhibits of architecture from a time gone by. We spend the evening in Mahabalipuram and retreat to our hotel for a good nights sleep.

Distance : 60 Kms

From the Genius of Pallavas to a place only 100 kms away, soaked in French influence, That’s day 3 of the South India Motorbike tour for you. We ride to Pondicherry, the French riviera of the East. One of the Highlights of the day is the ride along Promenade Beach, one of the most tranquil rides you would ever have beachside. If Mahabalipuram was about temples, Pondicherry is about the cleanest beach in India as well as Auroville, which we visit this day. Evening at the hotel where you can try some French cuisine for variety.

Distance : 100 kms

We have a longer ride planned for the days as we drive for about 4 hrs and reach Thanjavur, A perfect place to shop for unique paintings, Silk Sarees and Handicrafts. We can either visit the Brihadeeshwar temple and marvel at the rock carvings or visit the Thanjavur Palace and check out the historic artifacts. Late evening is for stretching some tired legs in the comforts of your Hotel.

ollowing another 4 hr ride from Thanjavur to Madurai, we have a visit to the iconic Meenakshi Amman Temple and Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace on our itinerary today. The Meenakshi Amman Temple is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Parvati and has 14 gateway towers, the highest being a 52 mt south tower. The palace though only one fourth of its original size now, was considered as a wonder of the South in its heydays. Overnight Stay in Madurai.

Distance : 180  Kms

A 160 Km drive from Madurai would take us to the state of Kerela, and one of its major tourist attractions, Thekkady. After riding for 5 days a break in nature would be welcome and we take a safari in one of the major tiger Reserves in the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. This would be followed by a visit to the Spice gardens where you can let the senses explore the aroma that makes the food taste wonderful.

Distance : 170 Kms

With Hues of Spice gardens fresh in mind, we head on a two -three hour ride to the tea estates in Munnar. Known to produce some of the best tea in Asia, Munnar is a picturesque hill station. We visit a tea estate which would offer a chance to learn about tea making and enjoy some breathtaking views of Anamundi Peak, The Highest peak in South India.

Distance : 100 Kms

Following a sumptuous breakfast, headlined by the “tea”; we head westwards to the City of Kochi. The journey is about 3 hrs and once we check in to the hotel, an excursion to Fort Kochi awaits. The fort is famous for its colonial architecture and Art galleries. The Chinese fishing nets and colonial era buildings are a main attraction for tourists to Kochi.

This day we take a break from Riding. After 8 days on the saddle we give ourselves and the motorcycles a break because we have planned a boating adventure for you in the backwaters of Alleppy. We hire private boats and go on a 5 hr adventure through various streams and connecting waterways for an exquisite experience. Lunch on the boat amidst the backwaters and evening at our leisure to explore the local Market.

Distance : 50 Kms

Time to get back on the saddle as we head further south to the City of Kovalam, famous for watersports and the lighthouse where you can take a stroll into the sea, Perfect for an evening walk. The delicacies of kovalam are specially famous for a fine blend of spices in curries that we will sample for dinner.

Distance : 180 Kms

On this day we have a short ride from Kovalam to Kanyakumari, the southern most point of India. We shall be taking stops along the way from Kovalam to Kanyakumari with short detours to visit Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, and Kanyakumari Beach. Evening at our leisure to spend at the beach.

Distance : 80 Kms

Our next destination calls for an early morning start as we have approx. 6 hrs of ride ahead to the temple city of Rameshwaram. Our main points of Interest in Rameshwaram are Ramanathswamy temple and Pamban bridge. Ramanathswamy Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and a place of pilgrim for Hindus.

Distance : 310 Kms

Our Last day of riding takes us away from the coast and into another ancient city rich in culture, history and architecture dating back thousands of years. Madurai is a city we have been to earlier on the tour and a perfect place to end our tour and bid goodbyes. The afternoon is free for you to visit the temple, buy some souvenirs, maybe some silk sarees to take back home for loved ones. We host a final team dinner and officially end the tour in Madurai.

You should hold a valid motorcycle driving license. An international Driving License though not mandatory is better for you as it would ease any insurance claims that might arise.

 

You would need a valid passport good for at least 6 months after the last day of the tour you are participating in. You are also advised to carry medical insurance as well as travel insurance that sufficiently covers the bike, you and any third party damages/injuries.

 

In Event of Sickness or Injury, The BRM Expeditions Support team will try to get the participant to the nearest medical facility. Any Costs or expenditures incurred as a result are to be paid by the participant. Also, depending on the nature of Sickness/ injury and in consultation with the local medical examiner, the BRM Expedition staff reserves the right to cancel the participation of the affected individual. No refund shall be offered in such a case.

 

No. The tour prices do not cover any Airfare, Be it International or Domestic. The price quoted for a tour can be Inclusive of Taxes, and the confirmation for the same is shared on every tours Included Section.

 

Yes. The participants must get their riding gear consisting a Hemet, armored Jacket and trousers, Eye Protection Gear, Arm and Knee guards. You can write in to us to discuss the gear and if you want to purchase some in India. Though its better to bring your own gear, BRM Expeditions can offer some gear if one finds getting his gear along difficult.
